This is the first terrorist attack on British soil since the murder of fusilier Lee Rigby on May 22, 2013. Police have not commented on that account. As reported the man had been threatening the people with a knife at around 7 pm.

Shopkeeper Salim Patel said the man “punched like a boxer” before collapsing when he was Tasered by police on Saturday evening. “You wouldn’t want to give him help, but he needs help”. She could not confirm whether police were seeking anyone else in relation to the attack, saying only that police inquiries were ongoing. I was anxious, there was a lot of panic. After good 10-15 police came and got the guy and arrested him. Then I saw the guy attacking the victim, punching him so hard.

“He was tall and black, wearing a black jacket and a headscarf”.

Police had originally said three had been injured but revised down that number to two on Sunday morning.

Two other victims received “minor injuries” in the attack.

Commander Richard Walton, who leads the London police’s Counter Terrorism Command, said after the incident: “I would continue to urge the public to remain calm, but alert and vigilant”. The man reportedly shouted “this is for Syria”.

A fresh wave of RAF strikes hit a key oil field held by the so-called Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant inside Syria yesterday. A pool of blood is visible in one shot. The video that uploaded to Twitter shows police restraining a man believed to be the attacker, while an onlooker can be heard shouting: “You ain’t no Muslim bruv”.

One man then shouted at the suspect: “You ain’t no Muslim, bruv!”. A woman was threatened by the suspect but was not injured.

“Met officers attended the scene”.

“Officers from British Transport Police are now dealing with the incident at the scene”. None of those were thought to have sustained life-threatening injuries. “We are monitoring the situation closely as further details emerge”. The victim suffered “serious” knife wounds but is expected to survive.

Sadiq Khan, a London member of Parliament and candidate for the city’s forthcoming mayoral election, tweeted a picture of what appeared to be a London Underground information board: “London Underground say #youaintnomuslimbruv”.

“Following the incident last night, we are now deploying still more officers in this role”.

“My wife asked a few people and we found out a man had been running after people with a knife, and someone had been stabbed”. He was taken to hospital by ambulance and remains in a stable condition.
