China Prepared for Higher Level of Cooperation with Africa

The theme for the summit in Johannesburg is “Africa-China Progressing Together: Win-Win Cooperation for Common Development”.

He quoted the president as stressing that “Africa expects Chinese investment flows to the real sector of our economies to promote African enterprises”.

Twenty-five agreements worth a combined value of $16.5 billion (more than R190 billion) have been signed during a business forum between China and African countries, says Trade and Industry Minister Rob Davies.

The Chinese leader made the announcement during the China-Africa major summit held in Johannesburg, where multi-billion mega deals were inked by the two countries. “Figures indicate that Africa needs 93 billion USA dollar to upgrade its infrastructure and China’s help has come at a right time”, he added.

“China will implement ten cooperation plans with Africa in the next three years, ” Xi said.

Xi said China’s aid would be directed at solving the three main bottlenecks which Africa faced – the lack of infrastructure, skilled workers and capital.

Chinese President Xi Jinping has announced that he and African leaders have reached consensus on lifting China-Africa relations to a comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership.

“We have been very impressed by the speech of President Xi, because it is a very concrete proposal and a road map for the cooperation between China and Africa”, said Kadre Desire Ouedraogo, president of the Commission of the Economic Community of West Africa States.

China is doing what the colonialists failed to do in the past: help Africa out of poverty, the president said. “Some countries raised this at bilateral meetings”.

This is in addition to building roads, ports and railways in a continent long seen as a major commodities source for China. “China is asking us how we can partner to achieve our development priorities”, said Kenyatta.

The Chinese president also suggested that China-Africa cooperation prioritize infrastructure construction, so as to bring tangible benefits to all people.

During the meeting, the Egyptian prime minister lauded the deeply-rooted relations between the two countries, the Cabinet spokesman said in statements.

Accompanied by his wife Peng Liyuan, Xi concluded his schedule on Friday evening by attending the art performance at the closing ceremony of the Year of China in South Africa.
