Obama to address nation on terrorism Sunday

ISIL is a terrorist organization, pure and simple.

“Lets make sure we never forget what makes us exceptional”, said Obama, who spoke before heading off to the Kennedy Center Honors celebration in Washington, a trip he nearly cancelled for the address. “We should be advocating for more concealed carry ability for law-abiding Americans and an end to unconstitutional gun-free zones”.

In the prime-time speech, Obama did not roll out major policy changes in the battle against the Islamic State or propose any major new domestic security initiatives. On Sunday night, the commander-in-chief sought to take on the role of the nation’s teacher, soberly outlining the threat of terrorism based on high-level intelligence and giving a broad overview of the existing efforts the U.S.is putting forward to defeat and ultimately destroy the terror network. “And by drawing upon every aspect of American power”. And 68% said the American response to the group’s rise had not been sufficiently aggressive. Obama has insisted that the Islamic State is contained in Iraq and Syria. “Letting this fight be defined as a war between America and Islam that to is what groups like ISIS want”.

As a father of two daughters, Obama said, he could imagine himself or his kin in San Bernardino or Paris.

The president’s Sunday address is scheduled for 5 p.m. Los Angeles time and will be broadcast by KCAL9.

But in his address, Obama did call for stricter gun safety measures.

They walked down “the dark path of radicalization”, Obama said.

Obama called on lawmakers to pass gun control legislation and formally declare war against ISIS, which both face uphill battles in the Republican-led Congress.

Unconfirmed reports have suggested that Malik had pledged allegiance to a leader of Islamic State. In addition to his request for support for more military force, Obama asked, albeit in a brief part of the speech, for stronger gun laws that would stem the tide of high-powered weapons that flow freely in this country.

“I think what you’re going to hear from him is a discussion about what government is doing to ensure all of our highest priority – the protection of the American people”, Attorney General Loretta Lynch said in an interview with NBC’s “Meet the Press”. As for the setting – the Oval Office – the senior official said the president felt it was “familiar and appropriate” for Americans, and underscored the “seriousness with which we are taking the issue”.

“As we’ve become better at preventing complex multifaceted attacks like 9/11, terrorists turn to less complicated acts of violence like the mass shootings that are all too common in our society …” “The encouragement of people to act on their own”.

But Obama warned that the kind of heated anti-Muslim rhetoric and tough talk that has erupted in the Republican presidential race from candidates such as Trump would play into the hands of ISIS.

The president says the West is not at war against Islam.

Obama says Muslims can send credible, effective counter messages and undermine jihadist propaganda. “It’s a real problem that Muslims must confront without excuse”.

Obama wrapped up his speech with an appeal for Americans to not abandon our values in the search for justice, and to not take the actions of a few out on the hundreds of millions of peace-loving Muslims.
