Vonn crushed all competitors on Sunday with a super-G time of one minute, 19.79 seconds.

American Lindsey Vonn continued her domination at Lake Louise with a victory in Saturday’s Alpine Skiing World Cup women’s downhill race, her 17th triumph at the Canadian layout.
Those include 2011 and 2012, when Vonn completed a hat-trick of wins across the weekend and that feat is still on the table this time around.
Leading up to her venture into speed at Lake Louise, Shiffrin studied footage of races from the venue, no doubt taking in quite a few wins by Vonn. I feel really confident in super-G. “I think my consistency is getting better, so that’s a good platform to get those special results once in awhile”.
As she made her way through the 40 gates between the start and finish, Vonn was composed on her skis, finding superb lines as she increased her lead over former leader Tamara Tippler (+1.32secs).
Huetter was excited after her third podium in as many days. “I feel like no matter what is thrown at me on this hill, I know how to recover and rebound and somehow still carry enough speed to the bottom to win”.
“Starting first wasn’t easy because I didn’t have the report from other skiers and how they skied it. It still went really well”.
Cornelia Huetter of Austria was second in 1:51.08. Larisa Yurkiw of Owen Sound, Ont., was seventh and just over half a second out of a top-three result.
“Mission accomplished. In the back of my head I was thinking, ‘I’ll get points, but maybe a top 15.’ So by holding in 15, that’s a really good day”, said Shiffrin. This was the third time that she swept the weekend of racing in the Canadian Rockies, not to mention that she has scored 18 of her victories there. Yurkiw carved so tight a turn there that she lost speed. “It definitely snowed a bit last night and this is probably the warmest I’ve ever had a race here in Lake Louise”. The overall crown goes to the skier who earns the most points over all disciplines – downhill, super-G, giant slalom and slalom.
Vonn was impressed by Shiffrin’s super-G debut.
“I’m sure she’s going to be a strong competitor here in the next couple races”.
