Florida teams selected to bowl games

Hey, it’s about the classiest the coach could handle the situation, considering it’s a “travesty” the two Mountain West teams play one another. The Cornhuskers have been bowl eligible ’cause there weren’t sufficient 6-6 teams to fill out the bowl schedule.

It is the first time, however, their bowl date has been a conference game, too.

The Nevada football team was selected to play against Colorado State in the Arizona Bowl.

The Arizona Bowl is also the first game in postseason history to be digital-first: CampusInsiders.com will stream the game online, though it will also be shown on the American Sports Network and on local television in both Reno and Denver. Colorado State holds the series advantage winning 10 of the 12 contests. There is an excess of bowl games due in part to a disparate allocation of openings vs. conference bowl histories.

CSU and Nevada are playing each other in the bowl game because there weren’t enough 6-6 or better teams for the 80 bowl slots available.

When he founded the NOVA Home Loans Arizona Bowl, Tucson attorney Ali Farhang had one rule. ESPN/ABC will broadcast 37 of the 40 bowl games, with CBS Sports (Sun Bowl), CBS Sports Network (Cure Bowl) and the ASN getting the other three.
