On Thursday last, Foreign Office spokesman Qazi Khalilullah said Islamabad was waiting for official confirmation about the participation of Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj in the conference and the situation is still more or less the same as New Delhi has yet to come up with confirmation.

The duo had earlier met in Russian city of Ufa and agreed that their National Security Advisors would meet. He said that the investigations into the recent killing of Rangers personnel in Karachi were still under way but he refrained from pointing a finger towards anyone. Afghan President Ashraf Ghani is expected to visit Pakistan to jointly inaugurate the conference with Sharif.
