Coldplay will headline Super Bowl 50 halftime show

Coldplay is an interesting choice, given that their reputation among some is that they play for the most part “sad” music that would not match up against what you really tend to see at an National Football League game.

A sort-of-rock band from Britain as Super Bowl 50 halftime stars?

I may have more to say about this in my regular Super Bowl 50 Countdown post this weekend. It’s meant to liven things up and give the production that pop culture element that makes it relate to the folks who wouldn’t classify themselves as sports fans.

Chris Martin revealed the news on the band’s official Twitter page and through a short video.

American football fans on social media in the United States had mixed views about the Super Bowl announcement.

A Head Full Of Dreams has been produced by Norwegian duo Stargate, consisting Of Tor Erik Hermansen and Mikkel Storleer Eriksen, alongside the band’s long-time collaborator Rik Simpson.

In it, we get a rare look at the Coldplay frontman and his bandmates – guitarist Jonny Buckland, bassist Guy Berryman and drummer Will Champion – in meetings about their wardrobe, the colorful stage design and the songs they’ll be performing.

The five acts that KREM states it wants to see instead of Coldplay are Kanye West, Taylor Swift, Rihanna, Adele, and Prince. But Adam Levine during an interview in September shut the rumors down saying, that their band would love you perform the halftime, but “no real conversation” has taken place. The album has produced the single “Adventure of a Lifetime” so far. The band’s new record, released Friday, features Avicii, Tove Lo, Noel Gallagher and even Martin’s ex-wife Gwyneth Paltrow.
