For many families, part of the fun of Christmas is a trip to see Santa at the mall, but for some children this experience can be completely overwhelming.

For 5-year-olds Holden Brooks and Charlie Pearce, sitting on Santa’s lap and taking a picture with him isn’t always easy.
“I thought we would never get those holiday pictures with him because it’s something he can’t handle – the noise, and the pressure”.
Through the Caring Santa program, children with special needs and their families were able to take photos with Santa from 9:30-11 a.m., prior to the mall opening.
Pearce said “There are days where we’ve had to carry him out just because he’ll just lock up because there’s too much stimulus going on”.
It opened two hours early to provide a controlled environment.
One metro consignment shop hosted a special visit from Santa specifically for children with autism sensitivities.
The simple gesture was all Brayden needed to feel safe, and secure with Santa.
