We only had three of our top five candidates play this week, as the Oklahoma Sooners didn’t have a conference championship game, and the Ohio State Buckeyes were left out of their conference championship game.

Even if they’re a bit amped up now, they’ll still have more to say I’m sure as the MASCOT awaits their bowl-season fate. Not to knock the other two leading candidates, but after a recent run of troublesome Heisman winners (see: Jameis Winston, Johnny Manziel), McCaffrey truly is the golden child and American dream, wrapped in a 6-foot, 200-pound package of pure delight that nearly challenges the wonders of the basketball miracle who plays a short drive north off I-880.
Stanford finished ranked No. 6 in the College Football Playoff rankings. USC won five of its last six regular-season games including a beating of UCLA, and probably will be favored against whoever they face in Las Vegas, San Diego, El Paso or wherever its bowl bid takes it.
“My job was easy”, McCaffrey said.
“I do believe at some point it’s going to be an eight-team playoff”, Shaw said Sunday in a teleconference involving the two coaches. “We’re not there now, but it’s the only thing that makes sense”.
