TAG Heuer smartwatch production to be increased due to high demand
The CEO of the luxury watchmaker, Jean-Claude Biver, told Bloomberg that the company is aiming to ramp up production to 2,000 watches a week – up from 1,200. Biver has also confirmed that it won’t be the only smartwatch we see from TAG.

The luxury Android Wear-powered wearable device is very expensive at $1,500 but there is certainly a market.
According to Phone Dog, the company says that there’s a need to increase the production of the Tag Heuer Connected from 1200 units to 2000 per week. With over 150 years of watchmaking under its belt, it was just a matter of when a solid veteran watch brand such as TAG would join the smartwatch race.
Again, the 100,000 watches have been requested by retailers for the TAG Heuer Connected, so it is unknown how numerous units are actually going to be sold.
The answer back to Apple Watch, the TAG Heuer Connected smartwatch looks like a regular TAG Heuer Carrera sports watch at first glance.
Consumers would soon have more options since LVMH Moet Hennessy Louie Vuitton SE plans to expand the models in 2016 and 2017, including diamond-crusted pieces and use of other materials. Look closer and you’ll find all the makings of an exceptional quality timepiece along with on-the-go connectivity and functionality that smartwatches offer.
The TAG Heuer Connected further comes with Intel inside, 4 GB of storage, Google’s Android Wear platform for wearable technology, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, and a microphone ready to take voice commands.
But the popularity of TAG Heuer’s smartwatch shouldn’t be much of a concern for the major smartwatch players. Alongside that the Swiss brand is also suspending its online sales to give priority to its physical stores.
