Schweinsteiger can lead Manchester United, says Van Gaal

But outside of Van Gaal’s enthusiasm for the future, the Manchester United fans are getting increasingly frustrated with United’s poor return of results.

Manchester United midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger has voiced his frustration with his side’s lack of goals this season.

Van Gaal insisted his team were doing most of the attacking, however.

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has revealed that more of his young players will get the chance to impress over the busy festive period due to a lengthy injury list.

“But we play at home and won’t give him any gifts”.

“So when you have that question, then I say, okay, in Barcelona or Bayern Munich or AZ we have played like that”.

“I think that we played a very good match, it’s only we have to score”.

“We created a lot of chances but to score you need not only composure but a lot of luck”.

Their fans will have good memories of their last trip to Wolfsburg when former England striker Michael Owen scored a hat-trick in their 3-1 win in December 2009 as the Red Devils reached the quarter-finals.

“The goals are coming, that is my strong belief”, he said after two points dropped against West Ham United left them fourth in the table.

“But playing on Saturday, resting on Sunday and travelling on Monday is not ideal for a Tuesday match but we have to cope”. “It is a pity but we are still in the race”, he added.

United let it be known over the weekend that they are happy with van Gaal and are not interested in recruiting Pep Guardiola of Bayern Munich or Massimo Allegri of Juventus.

Van Gaal, who took over the reins at Old Trafford in 2014, believes his United side create enough chances that Aguero and Suarez would convert into goals.

A club source recently told the Mirror that they weren’t overly anxious about Champions League progress this season, saying: “Our focus has changed”.

“We have players who can score goals”.

Paddy McNair and Morgan Schneiderlin were both substituted against West Ham and may now miss the match in Germany.

Manchester United fans desperate for an end to the dreary football on show at Old Trafford have more cause to hand their heads this morning.

“I can’t blame the referee (Mark Clattenburg) because he didn’t see it, it happens”.

“We can win in Wolfsburg, because we won the home game, but it will be hard”.

“They had chances of course but we deserved a point”.
