Polls defeat: Ali Zaidi of PTI tenders resignation from party position
Blaming the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for the wrongdoing, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan has alleged that the recently held local government (LG) polls were worse than 2013 general elections in terms of rigging. Javed Hashmi claimed that people have started dis-tancing themselves from PTI due to its self serving politics and failure to fulfill the pledges made to the electorates.

PTI’s rout in Karachi and then in Punjab, particularly in Rawalpindi, has reportedly disturbed the top party leadership.
More than 200 central and provincial party leaders including members of the party’s central advisory council have been summoned in the federal capital.
“Imran Khan is disappointed and concerned about the party’s performance”, an official from inside the party said.
Addressing a press conference, he said that Imran Khan should have to change his dictatorial attitude, and should not follow suggestions of any capitalist or “wadera” but should consult with other members of the party.
The PTI chief said the elections will be direct and the workers will elect their representatives.
He alarmed that next phase of politics would be more unsafe for PTI. Hashmi said that Pakistan needs all its political parties, including Muttahida Qaumi Movement.

Hashmi also stressed the need for empowering local government representatives. “After the conclusion of the campaign, elections will take place”, he said.
