Newton rolled left away from the Saints’ rush.

New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton yells from the sideline in the second half of an NFL football game against the Carolina Panthers in New Orleans, Sunday, Dec. 6, 2015.

The Packers make the most of a questionable facemask call, giving them one last play to try and save the day (And the season?), with Aaron Rodgers hitting Richard Rodgers with the Hail Mary pass for the win.

Olsen said he made a clean catch, which was confirmed by replay officials after a Saints challenge. First-year cornerback Delvin Breaux picked off Newton on the next series, Anthony returned a fumble 31 yards for a touchdown and Brian Dixon shut the door on a potential game-tying drive early in the second quarter by ripping the ball out of Olsen’s hands.

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – Najee Goode scored on a blocked punt, Malcolm Jenkins returned an interception 99 yards for another touchdown and Philadelphia held on for an improbable victory over New England. Anthony stepped over the pile with the ball. “I’m extremely blessed and I don’t take it for granted”.

“I really was surprised it got challenged”, said Olsen, who caught nine passes for 129 yards.

And this was in the first quarter.

Newton passed for 331 yards and five touchdowns, capped by his 15-yard scoring strike to Jerricho Cotchery with 1:05 to go.

Drew Brees completed 24 of 42 pass attempts for 282 yards and three touchdowns.

“It sucks”, Ingram said. “We’ve got to understand that we have to take care of business”. 500 (at 4-4), had a chance to do what we wanted to do, and we just haven’t gotten it done in the past four weeks. Now, Brady has lost back-to-back games for just the fifth time in his career. “I consider myself blessed and fortunate to have been able to play in the National Football League for 12 years”. One more win would give them the record for the longest streak since the NFC was formed. He returned a Jonathan Stewart fumble and then returned a blocked extra-point attempt for a two-point conversion.

“A lot of great things, a lot of great flashes, but that’s been the plague of this season”, defensive end Cameron Jordan said.

There were glimpses of exactly that, but not enough sustaining power.

The Panthers also had to suffer through two coverage breakdowns that led to touchdowns for New Orleans (4-8). But the Saints’ offense woke up in time to challenge the unbeaten Panthers, scoring three touchdowns in the game’s final 17 minutes.

“We’re not where we need to be”, Brees said.

“It was good, but we still lost the game”.

Bobby also mentioned that he didn’t think the Black and Gold would put as many points on the board as they did, even though he expected a close match. Again, that’s on us. “We are playing well and, obviously, we are already short one corner, but that’s how it is”, Payton said.

“As far as the defense, I was proud of my guys in the first half, I was proud of my guys in the second half”.

That wasn’t the last of the punch, counterpunch.

But after New Orleans took a 31-27 lead early in the fourth quarter, the Panthers dialed up another deep shot for Ginn, who got past the secondary for a 45-yard touchdown. His top target is tight end Greg Olsen, who did make a tremendous, rolling catch on fourth down during the final TD drive. That left many questioning Coughlin and wondering whether the Giants (5-7) are headed for a fourth straight season out of the playoffs. “Let’s just put the record aside for a moment”. “Mathematically, I don’t know what the chances are or anything else about making it to the postseason”.
