Kelly Clarkson, John Legend, other stars react to nominations for the 2016

Nominated for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album, the 34-year-old singer, who was introduced to the Grammy world with his first nomination a decade ago, does share tough, but legendary company, including fellow nominees Barry Manilow, Bob Dylan and Tony Bennett.

Alabama Shakes received four nominations for their sophomore album Sound & Color including “Album of the Year” alongside the Weeknd, Kendrick Lamar and Chris Stapleton, but they’ll all face the hard task of taking on Taylor Swift and her mammoth 1989.

After landing the top track for the Fifty Shades of Grey soundtrack, Ellie Goulding was nominated for Best Pop Solo performance. The Weeknd? Seven. Drake?

Ronson’s collaboration with Bruno Mars on Uptown Funk won the pair three nominations in the Best Pop Vocal, Record of the Year and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance categories.

This won’t be Glen’s first trip to the Grammy’s as he shared a gong in 2013 for Best Musical Theater Album for the stage production of Once alongside fellow musicians including his ex Markéta Irglová.

“Artists are pushing boundaries in exciting ways, making it an exceptionally strong year for music”, he said in a statement.

This year’s Grammy Awards featured, amongst other things, that moment when Kanye West hurtled towards the stage but stopped short of total controversy when he backed off at the last moment when Beck actually seemed to be inviting him up.

In the rock category, Foo Fighters join Alabama Shakes in the Best Rock Performance category for their tune “Something From Nothing”.

In the jazz category, John Scofield and Josh Redman are among those nominated in the Best Improvised Jazz Solo category.

In Best Americana Album, nominees included Jason Isbell’s Dave Cobb-produced Something More Than Free, along with the Mavericks’ Mono and projects by Brandi Carlile, Emmylou Harris and Rodney Crowell, and Punch Brothers.

The 58th Annual Grammy Awards will take place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on February 15.
