SC burnt a giant facsimile of the Clemson mascot at the 64th annual Tiger Burn on Monday night. What is remarkable, though, is the way the rivalry has turned so quickly.

“All we’ve gotten done so far is in the rearview mirror”, Swinney said Tuesday.
Clemson is undefeated this season (5-0 SU) in games where it wins the turnover battle. But Clemson found ways to lose.
The Bulldogs moved to 8-3 with the win, while the Gamecocks fell to 3-8.
The total has gone UNDER in 5 of South Carolina’s last 5 games when playing Clemson. Finally, he has managed to change the narrative surrounding Clemson. The Gamecocks lost 23-22 to FCS opponent Citadel last week.
“I don’t even know their record now”.
“It’s the same way as if they were 11-0 just like us”, Watson said.
Swinney, always quick with a jab for Spurrier during their many meetings, called what has happened to SC “cyclical”.

Which is not unexpected, because, well, a 3-8 team is going up against the #1 team in the country and might be a twenty-point underdog by the time the week’s up, and despite it being a rivalry game, many fans are just content to watch it at home.
“Sometimes those things are kind of cyclical. I just did what I could, and I guess I did pretty good”. That’s a game that we haven’t done very well the past few years so it was good last year to be able to get back on top, but that was last year.
From that point, all the Bulldogs needed to do was follow their game plan: run the clock and keep the Gamecocks out of the end zone. Everybody will forget about past year real quick, they’ll forget about last week real quick, if you don’t play well this week. I was just out there playing ball. There’s part of me that wants to take the over, but what if we have a closer, low-scoring game? He’s quarterback Deshaun Watson’s roommate and favorite target, leading the team with 74 receptions this season – more than twice as many as any other Clemson receiver.

Scoring margin will mean little to the Tigers, though.
