“We’re proud to announce plans to launch our AT&T GigaPower network in Huntsville, where we will offer ultra-high broadband speeds to local consumers and employers in the area”, says AT&T Alabama president Fred McCallum. Company officials said that at that speed, customers could download a high-definition movie in less than 36 seconds. AT&T recently marked a major milestone deploying the AT&T GigaPower network to more than 1 million locations, and expects to more than double availability by the end of 2016.

The service will be capable of downloading 25 songs in one second and a TV show in less than 3 seconds. Most of these launches are focused on high-end development communities where fiber is already in the ground and installation costs are low. AT&T said the service would be available to homes, apartments and small businesses.
