Clinton’s biggest lead over GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump – she enjoys an 11-point advantage over the outspoken billionaire.

Conservative US Senator Ted Cruz has surged to lead the field of Republican presidential contenders in the politically-crucial state of Iowa, a new poll showed on Monday (Dec 7).

“The romance with Carson is over and the romance with Cruz – and, to a lesser extent, (Marco) Rubio – has begun, and this time it’s unlikely to be a fling”, notes Hot Air.

After Cruz, the poll shows Donald Trump at 19%, Florida Sen. Rand Paul at 4%.

Monmouth poll director Patrick Murray attributed Cruz’s rise to Carson’s fall in the early nominating state, but also noted that Iowa Rep. Steve King’s endorsement likely had an impact.

Lara Brown, Ph.D., expressed in U.S. News a concern with the validity of the poll: priming. Just two months ago, 36% of the evangelical vote was with Carson and 12% with Cruz.

MSNBC/Telemundo/Marist conducted its latest sampling of 2,360 registered voters from November 15-Dec. 2.

CNN is reporting a closer result, with Trump and Cruz running neck-and-neck, with the former leading slightly, though in the margin of error. Another 49% say they have a strong preference, and the rest are either undecided or only have a slight preference.
