“He’s got other passions that I like”.
When asked more, he said it was all about the fans and the atmosphere created – “People sitting together with no nastiness”.
He said he was “devastated [and] relieved” when his son Romeo decided he didn’t want to play soccer any more, because he is happy for the teenager to pursue his other “passions” instead.
He did not expand on his “uneasy” experience of watching football as a boy, but added that “football is so powerful” and the passion comes ‘because it matters so much to people’.
Beckham also spoke a bit about the current scandals surrounding the sport’s governing body Federation Internationale de Football Association, and urged caution in believing that everything would be fixed quickly.
‘I love rugby, ‘ Beckham told the Radio Times.
He said: ‘Whether it’s corrupt or not, those countries have been chosen.
Just recently the 13-year-old appeared in influential brand, Burberry’s latest fashion campaign with the likes of Naomi Campbell and Elton John – and it was met with raving reviews! “I’m not trying to help them out but I want to show the good that football can do”.
