After a series of interviews in which he expressed his ambivalence about the planned new films, Lucas did not himself make that admission; rather, Lucasfilm chief Kathleen Kennedy made it for him. “In a way, we were going backward to go forward”.
Did fashions in the real world influence the kind of clothes, the way you dressed the characters in the Star Wars world? “That was always the challenge”.
Kennedy admits Lucas has struggled to watch his sci-fi saga go on without his involvement after selling Lucasfilm to Disney studio bosses in 2012.
The Star Trek Beyond trailer will be played ahead of screenings of The Force Awakens. “But it’s a great question and one we talked about quite a bit, even with Carrie Fisher, if there was another, why did she not take advantage of this Force strength that the character had”. Abrams turned down Beyond so he could helm The Force Awakens. I’ll be joining the millions of you who will be soaking in the start of a new Star Wars journey.
Abrams said the character was purposely left off to keep key parts of the story under wraps. Fan favorites like Mark Hamill, who starred as Luke Skywalker in the original trilogy, also return.
Although the main villain of the film is Kylo Ren, he is not the only villain who will appear in the film.
“She said, ‘Be careful who you’re dating with, because you don’t want to give anyone the pleasure of saying ‘I slept with Princess Leia'”. “I think he’s right”.
The film is set for release in the USA on December 18th.
The cast of the J.J. Abrams-directed movie have been notoriously tight-lipped about the plot and as the release date gets closer, John remains reluctant to divulge too many secrets.

Kennedy also confirmed the new film won’t have any ewoks, at the insistence of Harrison Ford.
