HEARTBREAKING LOSS: Redskins fall to Cowboys 19-16

The Dallas Cowboys’ 19-16 win over the Washington Redskins on Monday leaves three teams tied at the top of the NFC East – and none of them have a winning record. The Dallas Cowboys beat the Washington Redskins 19-16 on Dan Bailey’s 54-yard field goal with 9 seconds left Monday night.

However, those first 58 minutes were a depressing display of the issues this team still has.

Coming off a victory over those Giants, Kirk Cousins and the Redskins (5-6) entered this week surprisingly atop the lackluster NFC East, while the Cowboys (3-8) are in last place and minus their franchise quarterback, Tony Romo. Yes, Washington, Philadelphia and the New York Giants are all tied atop the division at 5-7, with some complicated tie breakers in play (only the Giants have a losing record within the division).

The Washington Redskins host the Dallas Cowboys in one of the most anticipated Monday Night Football this week, start time at 8:30 PM ET, at FedEx Field, Landover, MD. The Cowboys win 38-17 and improve to 7-1 on the season.

“Still feel like I had a decent game”, said Claiborne, who added that he wished the defense had been “in more of a zone” on the Jackson touchdown.

COLTS: Coach Chuck Pagano says he expects quarterback Matt Hasselbeck to play this weekend against Jacksonville with a fractured rib and a sore neck. Heroes became goats, goats became heroes and the script flipped one more time.

Bailey’s game-winning boot was set up by a 46-yard kickoff return from Cowboys receiver Lucky Whitehead after a wild sequence in which Redskins wideout DeSean Jackson had alternated between goat and hero in a span of just 42 seconds. He missed the final 10 games of the 2010 season with the injury. We’ve got all the TV schedule and live stream info you need to catch the game – plus live score updates in the box score above. Dallas recovered and punched in a Darren McFadden touchdown with 1:14 left.

COACHES-IN-LAW: Cowboys defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli is the father-in-law of Redskins defensive coordinator Joe Barry.

“It was huge”, Cowboys quarterback Matt Cassel said of Whitehead’s return. By the time, Witten finishes his college career, the tight end is a large part of the Vols’ offense and he has 39 catches his junior season.

Jackson, who fumbled in the dying minutes to give the Cowboys prime field position, looked to have gone from zero to hero with a game-tying touchdown, only for Bailey’s field goal to settle the match.

However, an offensive pass interference call on Garcon erased another first-down catch by Jackson, and Hopkins’ 45-yard field goal on the final play of the half made it 3-3.

Dallas lost three fumbles, including two by McFadden in his team’s own territory, but that trio of turnovers led to only three points for Washington.

That left enough time for Cassel to lead Dallas 20 yards in five plays for Bailey’s fourth field goal of the evening. “We battled and we got the W”, said Bryant.

Bailey’s 20-yard field goal tied the game at 9 with less than 5 minutes to go.

Cassel finished the game 16-22 for 222 yards while Cousins completed 22 of 31 passes for 219 and a touchdown.
