Turkish music lovers are raging with Adele, claiming that the British super-star has ripped off an iconic Turkish song for her new album.

With the announcement of the nominees for the 2016 Grammy Awards, fans have been all over the place in protest against Adele’s absence on the roster.

The answer is simple: Adele is just not eligible, considering her album was released out of the time frame that could have allowed her to be qualified. Adele’s producer, Greg Kurstin, admitted that Waits’s music had been an influence on the album, without discussing any particular tracks.

Offering a more detailed glance at her first week, Nielsen Music said that “25” accounted for 37.7 percent of all album sales in the United States, in a month that saw new releases from other big pop names including Justin Bieber and One Direction.

The 27-year-old British singer’s Turkish critics say “Million Years Ago, ‘ track number nine on her album ’25, ‘ bears an unmistakable resemblance to a tune by Ahmet Kaya called ‘Acilara Tutunmak” (Clinging to Pain), which was recorded in 1985, the Independent reported.

Kaya was from Malatya, Turkey, but died in exile in Paris in 2000, following allegations of supporting Kurdish “separatist group” (politcal party) PKK.

“I don’t think that Adele listened to Ahmet Kaya’s song and copied it on objective”, Dilmener said, adding that he thinks that it was “an easy tune to figure out”. His widow Gulten Kaya said she could hardly imagine that an worldwide star as Adele plagiary.
