“They line the streets all the way down Main Street and all around the square”.

Despite occurring at the same time as a football game featuring the undefeated Carolina Panthers (some fans popped in and out of the bars along Front Street to periodically check the score), the crowds were entertained, and the holiday spirit could be felt throughout the duration of this year’s Wilmington Christmas Parade.

The sidewalks lining Main Street were filled from Greenville to River Street with folks taking advantage of the sunny, mild conditions.

Kids and adults cheered and applauded at the more than 100 entries.

“A lot of people from out of town” come to see the parade, said Jackson City Clerk Jeanette Riley, who helped emcee the event.

The young ladies of Steppin’ Out dance studio in Anderson were ready for their appearance.

The morning began cool and crisp but warmed up as the parade cranked up.

Maxine Bowen and her son, Matt Bowen, watch the Christmas Parade with Matt’s dog, Junior.

A lot of citizens look forward to the annual parade.

“We’re trying to figure out how we’re going to outdo ourselves from past year”.

While the crowds have always been heavy along Main Street, spectators along College Street have been comparatively few.
