Share of Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL) Surged 3.49% Today
As with most products Apple preps for launch, the iPad enjoyed an enviable amount of hype leading up to its launch, but even after its launch, many still had that lingering question: “Why do I need a tablet?”

Apple resorted to producing the same sort of tablet for a much higher price.
Upon its unveiling, an Apple representative said that this tablet is “a magical piece of glass that you can hold in your hands” and that “it can do things a smart phone can’t do because it doesn’t have to fit in your pocket”. This has been at the top of the company’s strategy to tighten the competition against Apple in the tablet market.
Apple maintains a healthy lead in terms of online tablet sales, but Microsoft is in a strong second place position. Well, according to research firm 1010data, it appears that the company is doing very well with its Surface line, despite the fact that unlike Android, it’s not an low-priced option.
According to Winbeta, Microsoft tablets accounted for 45% of tablet sales in October – compared to Apple’s 17%. Fast-forward to October, and the numbers dramatically change.
For another, a bunch of new products were released in the second half of the year, counting the Surface Pro 3 in June, iPad mini 4 in September, the Surface Pro 4 and the Surface Book in October. While Amazon’s average sell price was $150, Apple’s was $392.
For day 8 of its festive deals, Microsoft is offering a free $75 gift code when you purchase the Surface 3 today.
This is far from the first problem that some users have faced with their new Microsoft hardware, with the developer team already having fixed up problems with screen flickering and odd touchpad behavior.
