The program will be offered at various levels of education, including the degree level, meaning “a degree in pizza is now a thing”, per Mashable.

The program will split time between classes and time at actual Pizza Hut locations to give students a wide range of skills from pizza production to financial analysis. Foodies may wonder what you could possibly learn from Pizza Hut about the art of the flawless slice, while the rest of us are busy craving some stuffed crust.

Skills Minister Nick Boles was on hand to roll out Pizza Hut’s first ever apprenticeship scheme.

Love pizza? Then this college major will be as easy as pie.

Kathryn Austin, Pizza Hut’s director of people and marketing, said the skills students will learn with the apprenticeships are transferable to most life skills, noted Yahoo Finance. In 2012, KFC partnered with De Montford University to launch a KFC degree programme, while McDonald’s also offers a foundation degree course for its business managers, which has been available since 2010.

“I would encourage more businesses to take the lead from companies like Pizza Hut Restaurants to start or expand their apprenticeship programmes”, Nick Boles said.

There’s also the Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners, which offers a program that “adopts an integrated approach, teaching both the theory and the practical skills necessary to join a profession that is considered a popular, cultural and social phenomenon which is typically Italian, in continual growth both in Italy and overseas”.
