Girl With Severe Burns Only Wants Cards For Christmas
About 75 per cent of her body was covered in burns but the 8-year-old girl from the United States has not let the loss of her family and extensive surgeries dampen her Christmas spirit.

After someone set fire to the upstairs stairwell leading to her family’s apartment in May 2013, Safyre’s father, David Terry, and her siblings Layah, 3, Michael, 2, and Donovan, 11 months, were killed. She survived, according to her aunt, Liz Terry-Dolder, who created a YouTube slideshow to tell Sa’fyre’s story, because “firefighters found her wrapped in her daddy’s arms”.
In addition to suffering from severe burns, Safyre lost her right hand three months after the fire, and lost her left foot in March. Her aunt bought a tree to hang holiday cards on, and when the little girl saw the tree she said she couldn’t wait to fill it up.
And pleading with her fans to support her through the festive season- a painful reminder of the family she has lost, the page asks for one simple thing: a Christmas card for the courageous 7-year-old.
As you can imagine, her community and large group of supporters from all over the world have spent the years since the fire working to ensure she has a happy and fulfilled life, showering her with love and encouragement.
The campaign spread to Imgur as well, with a post that’s been viewed more than 120,000 times.
Will you join and send Safyre a Christmas card? .

Dodler shared a heartwarming photo Monday of a happy looking Safyre holding a pile of cards that she received in the mail. “Please take a few minutes and send a Christmas card her way”.
