SA court grants Pistorius bail after murder conviction
Oscar Pistorius has been granted bail after he was convicted for the murder of his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp in 2013, in a hearing last week. He is only be allowed to travel within 20 kilometers of the home and would need written permission to leave, Ledwaba said.

Pistorius has been ordered to hand in his passport and wear an electronic tag.
His sentencing hearing is set for April 18.
South African judges last week found him guilty of murder, overturning his earlier conviction on the lesser charge of culpable homicide for killing Steenkamp, a model and law graduate.
Defense lawyer Roux also said Pistorius plans to appeal his conviction to the country’s Constitutional Court.
Under his murder conviction, he now faces up to a 15 year prison sentence.
However, Ledwaba said Pistorius was not a flight risk, having adhered to all bail conditions set out in previous court appearances.
He said if their application failed they will return to the Pretoria high court to have their client sentenced.
Pistorius shot Steenkamp four times through a locked toilet door on February 14th 2013, and claimed that he mistook her for a burglar.
The appeals court said that regardless of who was behind the door, Pistorius should have known someone could be killed if he fired multiple times.
During Tuesday’s court appearance, the first time he’s appeared in court in over a year, Pistorius was dressed in a dark suit. “He must be inside jail, not under house arrest”.
In his affidavit Pistorius said he was appealing because his rights were infringed by the SCA when it considered points of fact rather than points of law when it convicted him of murder. After Pistorius’s conviction was changed to murder, Ulrich Roux, a criminal attorney not affiliated with the athlete’s defence team, told the news channel ENCA that his chances of succeeding in that court were remote.
