A HUGE Announcement Was Just Made About A Major ‘Star Wars’ Character

They’ve been burned before, after all. General Jedi Leia for Star Wars Episode VIII, perhaps? J.J. Abrams helms the movie and had to be strict when reminding Daisy that her android sidekick is a serious character, as the actress kept forgetting that.

I’m not usually one to stand tall with George Lucas, who has – let’s face it – been on pretty much the wrong side of every Star Wars argument since 1983 (Ewok haters might say even earlier).

Audiences of the new film also won’t see any Ewoks, the furry creatures from 1983’s Return of the Jedi, Kennedy said. However, the film’s producers have confirmed a few things about the film that moviegoers will definitely not be seeing, much to the relief of many die-hard Star Wars fans.

During the same Q&A, star Harrison Ford further fuelled those rumours, revealing that his favourite scene in the upcoming film is – uh, spoiler alert – a swordfight between Rey and the film’s dark villain Kylo Ren, played by Girls star Adam Driver.

The latest installment of the blockbuster sci-fi saga – the first in a decade – opens in United States theaters on December 18 and keen fans can’t wait. “I gotta go to the wedding”, he said.

It’s the first time Harrison Ford, who plays Han Solo, is seen talking to John Boyega, the newcomer who plays Finn. Ridley said, “All those people who might be feeling lonely and then think about all the characters that they share some similarities with – for that to be some kind of buoyancy in someone’s life is incredible”. After recently saying that Star Wars had been a boys club in the past, Abrams claimed that he hopes women will be able to better relate to the female characters in the cast. While some shots have already been completed for the Force Awakens sequel, the main portion of the production begins in January.

“It’s just what our narrative is”, Abrams said, “so if it’s driving anyone insane, apologies”.

Perched in a small living room setup inside the cavernous Los Angeles Convention Center, this is the final stretch of Abrams’ journey to this galaxy far, far away and back again, which started almost three years ago. “I couldn’t care less”, he said.
