Expect More Events Like Sparrow Racing in Destiny, Not Expansions
“With Taken King, we are moving to a more event-based model-things like Festival of the Lost and Sparrow racing, which is our winter event, and then smaller events such as Iron Banner and Trials of Osiris every weekend”, senior designer Derek Carroll told Eurogamer.

The second year of Destiny marked the release of a big expansion for the game, but 2016 doesn’t seem to be shaping up like 2015 did for the shooter. Sure we can make them shine also we can leap around a bit on them, but they’ve just been our in-game mounts for over a year now and they’ve really just been fairly hum-drum, well this is all about to change because we have incoming Sparrow Racing!
Players of Destiny: The Taken King can expect more limited time events in place of small packs of downloadable content. Developer Bungie confirmed the changes and discussed what they mean for the massive online role-playing game in general in a new interview out this week.
What Activision told us recently when asked for comment is interesting.
On the plus side, it doesn’t sound like players will need to spend money to attain any new “Destiny” content over the next year.
Destiny’s days of large DLC packs may be a thing of the past. This new approach should keep things fresh and people excited for new events. Without a new raid to drive replayability, it’s likely that Destiny will become less of a regular experience for some and more a casual distraction any time these events kick back up. Even the quest for max light level loses a lot of its luster without new endgame content to challenge players.

Needless to say, we’ll be giving this a go and providing you with our thoughts in the near future. What was once a single drop could now be a monthly release schedule. Their presence in Destiny: The Taken King made some gamers very nervous. Do you think an expansion will be released in 2016?
