Suspect fatally shot after police chase in Yonkers

They say the NYPD officers then chased him until one of the officers shot him.

It began shortly before noon on Tuesday when uniformed officers on patrol spotted a Nissan sedan driving recklessly in the Bronx and tried to pull it over.

It all started in the Riverdale section of the Bronx with the shooting of a 50-year-old man and was followed by a police pursuit up the Henry Hudson Parkway, 1010 WINS’ Al Jones reported.

At a news conference, police officials told reporters that two police officers were hospitalized after the chase ended in a crash. It’s there that the vehicle was involved in a crash and one person was arrested.

Police say a person has been shot and killed after a police pursuit that led from New York City to Yonkers.

Two suspects are in custody.

The other driver suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Cops opened fire, striking one of the men in the chest, police sources said.

The parkway was closed in both directions between exits 3 and 4 while authorities investigated.

The New York Times, citing an unnamed NYPD official, reported that no weapon has been recovered from the suspect.

“Members of the the Yonkers Police Department are assisting the NYPD for a search of a suspect who may have fled on foot into the park, the suspect may also be armed”, the Yonkers Police Department said in a statement.
