The direction of the Nuggets as a franchise is hard to read right now.

Earlier in the day, sources told the Northeast Ohio Media Group that free-agent shooting guard Will Barton was finalizing a three-year contract worth about $11 million to remain with the Nuggets.
Barton is a restricted free agent, so the likelihood was always that he would stay with the Nuggets. He’s been with the Nuggets since being traded from the New York Knicks in the Carmelo Anthony trade. Yahoo! Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski first reported the deal, which is four years, $46 million.
The Nuggets are in a rebuilding phase after missing the playoffs the past two seasons, and they obviously see potential in the 24-year-old Barton.
Barton was a second round draft pick in 2012 for the Portland Trail Blazers but never really got a great chance to play much there, with the team having some very good, established wings.
Chandler appeared in 78 games (75 starts) for Denver last season, averaging 13.9 points, 6.1 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 31.7 minutes per game.
Upon arriving to Denver and seeing more minutes, Barton became more content and uttered the desire to re-sign with the team in the offseason.

Chandler has one season left on his current contract. His points and rebounds averages were the highest since he came to Denver. They’re evidently moving forward with goal to secure several key pieces for the future.
