But the Palestinians say it is the result of almost half a century of Israeli occupation and dwindling hope for gaining independence. Jarrar is a popular figure in the West Bank and well known for her fiery speeches against Israel.

Meanwhile, Israeli troops shot dead a Palestinian protester while they were carrying out an arrest raid in the occupied West Bank town of Bethlehem on Tuesday, Palestinian medical sources said.

In May, an Israeli court accused Jarrar of having committed 12 “security offenses”, including membership in the banned PFLP, which Israel considers a “terrorist” organization.

Jarrar was arrested at her West Bank home in April.

“There’s no agreement to be reached between the parties right now”, one senior U.S. official said.

The dolls were intercepted en route from the United Arab Emirates at a time of heightened violence between Israelis and Palestinians.

While Israel holds more than 6,700 Palestinian political prisoners, the arrest of the prominent figure Jarrar was also criticized by the European Union and Amnesty International.

Ayed Abu Qtaish of Defence of Children International explained that Israel killed 17 Palestinian minors during attempts to carry out stabbings; the rest of the 25 children were killed during clashes in the West Bank. She has criticized the Palestinian Authority for its security cooperation with Israel, which has continued even during months of Israeli-Palestinian fighting.

He said: ‘When indoctrination and incitement of Palestinian children to hate and kill Israelis begin at pre-school ages, it’s no wonder they go and murder Israelis when they are teenagers or older’.

According to the Palestinian Health Ministry, Ehab Maswadeh, 20, was killed near Hebron’s Ibrahimi Mosque, referred to by Israelis as the “Cave of the Patriarchs”.

‘Toys that show the throwing of stones at other people make this activity seem normal – they make an aggressive violent behaviour normal, ‘ said Shelley Elkayam, an advisor to the education committee in Israel’s parliament.
