Palestinian killed in Bethlehem raid

In a second arrest raid on Tuesday, Israeli troops detained a Palestinian in the West Bank town of Ramallah in connection with a stabbing incident in October, the military said.

The deputy minister, perhaps alluding to the breakdown in official Israeli-Palestinian peace talks, added that “we can not conduct an open dialogue with our neighbors until a drastic change is made in the Palestinian education system, which, as of now, only plants the seeds of fear and hate in its youth”.

Israeli forces have been killing Palestinians on an nearly daily basis since October when tensions intensified between the two sides.

Later the same day, dozens of Israeli soldiers ransacked Skafi’s home in East Jerusalem’s Beit Hanina district.

Since Oct. 1, 19 Israelis and a USA citizen have been killed in Palestinian attacks.

Israel has repeatedly denied claims that its forces use such bullets, though Palestinian medical examiners have on occasion documented their use.

At least 89 of those slain were killed “in cold blood”, according to the ministry.

The last nine weeks have also seen 22 Israelis killed and over 225 injured.

The charge of incitement rests upon the testimony of a Palestinian prisoner who say they heard Jarrar encourage the kidnapping of soldiers at a rally in 2012.

The tit-for-tat violence has been accompanied by a series of punitive measures by Israel that have further enraged Palestinians.

Reportedly, the United States of America was pushing for more meaningful gestures, such as increasing the Palestinians’ responsibilities in the so-called Area C that constitutes around 60% of the West Bank and is under exclusive Israeli control, both security and civilian.

A new report from Haaretz reveals that, from 2009-2013, USA donors gave at least $220 million to Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank, a scheme that is run through scores of US-based nonprofit groups who accept the donations as tax deductible.

Over the weekend, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry warned that continued settlement construction and other Israeli policies in the West Bank could endanger Israel’s future as a Jewish, democratic state.
