Bills LeSean McCoy still carrying a Chip on his shoulder

The star running back, who spent his first six seasons in Philadelphia, was vocal in the spring about his problems with Eagles coach Chip Kelly after being traded by the Eagles to the Bills in March. There have just been so many odd turns to this story since Kelly traded him to Buffalo for linebacker Kiko Alonso in the offseason.

McCoy went on to add that he will talk to his former teammates and owner Jeffrey Lurie, one of the few people he did talk to after the trade went down.

Not only is there an obvious difference between McCoy’s performance in recent weeks and his disappointing September outings when he was trying to play through a Grade 2 hamstring pull, but there is also a night-and-day contrast between the Bills’ running game this season and the broken-down attack that failed them in key moments last season. “I obviously got to experience it going to play the Miami Dolphins and you know I wanted to go kick their butt”, Bills guard Richie Incognito said. The rookie running back is healthy after an injury scare and expects to be very active in the matchup against Philadelphia. McCoy said Wednesday that the Eagles never made him aware of any issues they had with his contract and never approached him about restructuring. Nothing at all. Everything I said, I stand by it. I don’t take it back.

“I don’t even look at it that way because you only talk about who you have on your team”, Kelly said. “Why do y’all want me to shake hands with him?” He’s really smart, he taught me different things.

And then there’s DeMarco Murray, the NFL’s rushing king last season – he out-gained the second-leading rusher, LeVeon Bell, by nearly 500 yards – who replaced McCoy in Philadelphia. McCoy says that is not going to happen. I was like, ‘Yo, what?’ Because I hadn’t really heard anything about it. I didn’t see it coming at all. I’m going to give Duce [Staley] a big hug. There’s nothing for us to talk about – at all.

On Tuesday, McCoy stood by his statements. “Chip’s more… a lot of things matter to him (other) than playing ball”.

“I see how the fans are in Philadelphia. They may like players, but they’re so loyal to the franchise and that’s how it should be”, McCoy said.
