Russian Diplomat Accused of Hitting Biker, Assaulting Cop in Delhi

A case has been registered against a diplomat from the Russian Embassy after he allegedly hit a biker with his speeding auto, in Delhi’s Moti Bagh area the police said on Wednesday.
When Delhi Police officials demanded him to come out of his auto, the diplomat began hurling abuses at the cops and even threatened to beat them up.
The incident was reported around 1.30 AM and the diplomat is suspected to be driving in an inebriated state when he was heading southward on Shanti Path, said a senior police official.
A Russian diplomat allegedly tried to attack a policeman after an accident with a biker in south Delhi in the early hours today. When the police tried to get him out of the vehicle, he refused to do so.

However, the official was later taken away by his friend after a discussion with the police. MEA officials were roped in for legal proceedings due to diplomatic immunity of the offender. The biker, identified as Naveen, was then rushed to the AIIMS Trauma Centre. A report on the case will be submitted to the Home Ministry. He later started arguing with the police and allegedly assaulted a constable.
