Thompson torches Pacers for 10 three-pointers

The NBA record for consecutive wins, over a single or multiple seasons, is 33 in a row by the Los Angeles Lakers, all during the 1971-72 season.

It’s gimmicky to tack on anything from the regular season before, ignoring the reality that there were six months, a postseason (which included five losses), a preseason and a coaching change (the ailing Steve Kerr to interim Luke Walton) in between those games.

And I realize that Miami seemed to wear down under the pressure of the streak that season. A bunch of guys having fun, shooting threes, dunking, everybody passing, behind-the-back passes.

Despite the latest victory, Curry was disappointed in the play by his team’s reserves in the fourth quarter and lamented the fact that Thompson appeared to hurt his ankle after being forced to re-enter the game.

The eight-point difference in score between the Golden State Warriors and the Indiana Pacers hardly explains the story of last night’s match-up. It’s a great feeling.

Although I do believe it is impossible to win all 82 National Basketball Association games over a grueling season, I think the Warriors can finish 77-5.

“It’s tough when we had an opportunity to (win), it was right there”, Lowry said. We just don’t know, and maybe we won’t find out if they continue to win games.

The Warriors are playing for scoreboard points, not style points, but so far they’re winning that completion too.

Thompson re-ignited memories of his record-breaking 37-point quarter against Sacramento Kings last January.

The Pacers made some adjustments on Thompson by crowding him at the three-point line but when this happened, Thompson was able to drive by his defender and find teammates for open looks. The league doesn’t prioritize one over the other, leaving the fans and media to decide how they see it. But with the way every Warriors win is being promoted at the moment, you sure get the sense that they’re closing in on those legendary Lakers.

By the fourth, Golden State’s starters looked to be clocked out for the night. “All it takes is for a couple of shots to go in”.

Thompson’s haul included 10 of 16 three-pointer attempts while Warriors talisman Stephen Curry added 29 points and 10 assists.

Klay Thompson did his best Curry impersonation, hitting 10 three-pointers in just three quarters in a victory over the Indiana Pacers.

That sincerest form of flattery is, in the end, imitation, and the Golden State Warriors remain undeterred that original is the only way to go. The Warriors finished 52 of 95 (54.7 percent), including 16 of 36 from three-point range.

Paul George led IN with 33 points, and C.J.

And, by the way, congratulations to the crowd who never abandoned ship on the Pacers despite the 28-point deficit at the end of the third quarter. The Warriors have won 76 consecutive games when they lead by 15 or more points.

The run provided half of the Warriors’ 44 points in the first quarter that matched the most points they scored in any quarter this season. Behind the 2015 MVP, Steph Curry, the Warriors are dominating the competition.

“They attack the defense out of a double team better than anybody does in this league because everybody on the floor can shoot the ball”, Miles said.
