The Chilean winger has however traveled home to Chile for treatment and to recuperate according to Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger.

Wenger’s men do need a huge result as they must win by two clear goals or beat Olympiacos on the head-to-head to qualify for the knock-out stages.

Creative midfielder Santi Cazorla has undergone knee surgery, while Francis Coquelin is unable to play in his defensive midfield role due to a knee ligament problem.

Wenger’s side are priced at 21/10 to win the match, whilst an Olympiacos win is valued at 49/20.

“Overall the game we played in Monaco was very positive, maybe we rushed a little bit in the last 10 minutes and that is what we can learn from the game”. We have won everywhere in Europe, we know we can do it, so the best way is to go through with a top quality performance and that is what we must focus on. We know what is expected and we have studied Olympiakos.

Things are getting tight in group F as second place is up in the air.

Aaron Ramsey may feature, while in-form Olivier Giroud would spearhead any attack.

Ozil has been in sparkling form this season, however, with two goals and 12 assists in his first 14 league games of this campaign. “We have to prepare mentally and physically for Wednesday’s game ’cause it will be very hard”.

“I’m proud of consistency because it demands a lot of effort every day and I think that’s what it’s about”. We have to attack and defend well.

“I’ve had a really good response when it comes to the defence”, he continued.

Coach Pep Guardiola was equally pleased.

You only have to look at the numbers in the group stage so far. “But he played with his usual aggression straight away”, Guardiola said.

“Before when we came here we had already qualified, that is not the case tomorrow night”, he said.

Olympiakos is cruising toward another domestic title, but its latest win rattled the Greek champion. On the same day, Olympiakos earned a 4-3 victory over Panthrakikos to extend their winning start to the league season to 13 matches. We had the opportunities to score but our goal was at risk. “It shows a lack of concentration and it’s something we are addressing”. This game might have come at the wrong time for the Gunners as the win against Sunderland would have taken its toll on them. He led the line quite brilliantly, knowing the pressure was on for Arsenal to complete their great Champions League escape.

The first time these sides met, Arsenal imploded at home, losing 3-2 and looking like a team on its way out.
