Unfortunately for Bridgewater, the young stud has fallen into what every rookie player hopes to avoid in their second year, a sophomore slump.
Wilson has been superb. But the Vikings are likely going to have to strike a better balance on offense to get there, especially with their defense not at full strength. The line allowed Wilson to be sacked just once on the day as Wilson passed for 274 yards and three touchdowns. Julio Jones has not scored a touchdown for four straight games. “That’s losing in embarrassing fashion five games in a row”.
The Vikings were penalized nine times for 95 yards.
SEATTLE IN SYNCH: The Seahawks have averaged 34.5 points over the last four games.
NOTES: S Antone Exum started for the injured Andrew Sendejo and recovered the fumble by Rawls that he caused…. Tallying 18 yards on those eight carries was the third lowest output of his career. The Vikings totaled just 31 rushing yards on 16 carries.
It’s understandable that Peterson feels frustrated after an embarrassing loss to Seattle. Their injury-depleted defense is undermanned against Arizona’s top-ranked scoring offense and Minnesota proved last week it is not built to play from behind or match scores. Teddy Bridgewater managed just 118 yards and an interception with a paltry 4.2 yards per attempt. Barr’s injury gave extended playing time to Jason Trusnik, whose three tackles equaled his output for the entire season…. But the coverage units were satisfactory at best, and it was embarrassing to see Patterson celebrating a touchdown down 35-0.
And while the defense began a little flatter than we’re used to, they’re also showing signs of perking up.
