What is known is that “Force Awakens” is set 30 years after “Return of the Jedi”.

“I don’t want to spoil it for anyone”, he said.

We already knew Lupita Nyong’o is playing (via motion capture) a space pirate named Maz who goes way back with Han Solo, but Nyong’o revealed Maz is a former pirate who now runs a cantina. “The themes and the wonderful graphics that George Lucas created”.

The film is the first in the series to be directed by J.J. Abrams, otherwise known as the director of recent “Star Trek” movies and “Mission: Impossible III”.

Since Kylo Ren reportedly aims to finish whatever Darth Vader began, it would be safe to assume that he will be the one who will utter the first speaking line for the upcoming movie. Indeed, though the journalists on hand did their best to maintain their professional detachment (no one came dressed as a Stormtrooper or wielding a lightsaber), the event had a vibe close to that of a small-scale “Star Wars” fan convention. “Great for you. Mine were good-looking and they had sex, and then it ended”.

“Jar Jar is definitely not in the movie”, Kennedy said to applause and cheers.

Ridley, who was cast out of relative obscurity to take the starring role in the new film, said she did hope that her character becomes a symbol of empowerment much like Princess Leia had to an earlier generation, but stressed that focusing simply on gender roles is nearly missing the point.

“It’s just what our narrative is”, Abrams said, “so if it’s driving anyone insane, apologies”. “I didn’t have much to think about”. It sounds like only Star Trek Beyond is confirmed, but none of the studios behind those other movies are going to miss a chance like this, either.

Getting a peek at the making of this movie also gets me excited for the Blu Ray release.
