US Postal Service’s busiest mail, shipping day next week
“We have stepped up our game to ensure America that USPS can be counted on to deliver their cards, gifts and letters in time for the holidays”.

The U.S. Postal Service expects Dec. 14 to be the busiest mailing day of the holiday season and Monday, Dec. 21, to be the busiest delivery day.
The agency recently began piloting its “Informed Delivery” tool, which emails users black-and-white scanned copies of the envelopes that will be delivered to their mailboxes each day.
The Postal Service has hired additional employees, extended retail hours at many Post Offices and issued new holiday stamps, all in preparation for the holiday season.
Consumers can avoid holiday hassles by visiting usps.com – the Postal Service’s website that will help make mailing and shipping easier. Your package or card is one of more than 600 million items the USPS is expected to handle this holiday season.
“You know, one thing the Post Office is doing again this year that we did last year is we keep that mail moving throughout the season”. They expect to deliver on average approximately 5 million packages every Sunday during December.
For priority mail, send by Monday, Dec. 21.
You bought, you wrapped, now you must mail. Please note, Priority Mail Express postage refund eligibility is adjusted for shipments mailed December 22 through December 25.
David Walton with the US Postal Service told Local 8 News that workers will process about 87 million pieces of first-class mail in the month of December, just at the Knoxville plant alone. “Customers and stakeholders are left with uncertainty about what the future holds for the Postal Service and how the Postal Service will transform itself to remain relevant in the digital age”.
