Finally, it’s a little surprising to see Amy Schumer not nominated in the TV categories, because her work on Season 3 of “Inside Amy Schumer” was spectacular. Just journalists. But yeah. That puts the pay cable network (six noms) behind only HBO (seven noms) in channel nominations – quite a feat when you consider the fact that CBS only scored one mention (Good Wife supporting player Alan Cumming) and NBC is completely absent from the race. She wasn’t sure she would watch the Globe nominations – which occur before dawn in Los Angeles – but her dreams convinced her to tune in. Her rousing, instantly-viral “I can and I did” acceptance speech from past year was such a hit, the CW used it as part of her Emmy Awards “For Your Consideration” campaign.
She says, “I can’t believe it. Seven months ago I thought we had a dead pilot”. She is up for Best Actress in a Limited TV Series for American Horror Story. Nothing for director Steven Spielberg either, though Mark Rylance got a Best Supporting Actor nom.
Not everything went well during the Globes’ Thursday announcement. They lead all TV shows, as they are among the five shows tied at the top with three noms apiece.

The Big Short also landed two best actor nods for Christian Bale and Steve Carell, and best screenplay for Charles Randolph and Adam McKay.
In the race for best comedy or musical film are “The Big Short”, “Joy”, The Martian“, “Spy” and “Trainwreck”. “She was the inspiration for “One Kind of Love” and just woke me to tell me the song has been nominated for a Golden Globe – my mind is blown!” The Golden Globes apparently love Narcos giving the series both an acting and best series nomination which is rare in this particular crop of nominations. Eddie Redmayne, who played transgender artist Lili Elbe, is nominated for Best Actor in a Drama, while his co-star Alicia Vikander is up for Best Actress in a Drama for her role as Gerda Wegener.
Fassbender, nominated for Steve Jobs, said: “I’m very grateful to the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for the nomination”. Denying acting noms to the cast of “Spotlight” – even though the movie is generally considered a front-runner for Best Picture at the Oscars, the Screen Actors Guild awards, and in the Globes’ Best Drama category. New broadcast comedies “Fresh Off the Boat” and “Black-ish” also did not receive any nominations.
Was there an actor and a role better suited to a Globe nom this year than Caine’s endearing 80-something-year-old composer in Searchlight’s existential drama Youth? Spacey was passed over in favor of newcomers Rami Malek (“Mr. Robot”), Wagner Moura (“Narcos”), Bob Odenkirk (“Better Call Saul”) and returning challengers Jon Hamm (“Mad Men”) and Liev Schreiber (“Ray Donovan“). Nominees for the best actress in a TV series- drama also include Caitriona Balfe (Outlander), Eva Green (Penny Dreadful) and Robin Wright (House of Cards).
Aside from “Carol“, the best drama nominees are “The Revenant”, “Spotlight”, “Room” and “Mad Max: Fury Road”. It is one of the best dramas on television and while it’s hard to argue with any of the Best TV Series Drama nominees, it’s still a shame that the Keri Russell-Matthew Rhys spy drama has never been nominated.
The Golden Globe nominees for best motion picture musical or comedy have been announced in Beverly Hills, California.
The Big Short, Joy, The Martian, Spy and Trainwreck will all compete for best motion picture (musical or comedy).
The best actress in a TV series- comedy contenders are Rachel Bloom, Jamie Lee Curtis, Gina Rodriguez, Lilly Tomlin, Grace & Frankie, besides Louis-Dreyfus.

Animated Film: “Anomalisa”, “The Good Dinosaur”, “Inside Out”, “The Peanuts Movie”, “Shaun the Sheep Movie”. Still no matter how unconventional the Golden Globes can be with their nominations some surprises can still squeak on through.
