ZTE Axon revealed with flagship specs for under $450

Aware of its status as a less-known company, Axon is also adding a number of customer services via a program it’s calling Axon Passport, including a two-year warranty, one-year free shipping and a 30-day “buyer’s remorse” refund if you change your mind. So “Axon” is to ZTE as “Galaxy” is to Samsung or “One” is to HTC. Previously, the handset was presented as just the Axon Phone, with no ZTE branding in sight.

ZTE has further revealed that the Axon Phone also has a “super-simplified Android interface”, which is likely to be based on stock Android Lollipop, a “lightning-fast processor”, 4GB of RAM, and a “large battery for all-around high performance”.

Now that it’s officially official, what do you think of the Axon Phone? The company is now attempting to make itself more visible by offering a higher-end device with its new flagship phone Axon, which it introduced at a press event today in NYC.

However, all in all, the Axon looks like it may be, at the very least, a real competitor in the current race for reasonably-priced but high-end phones for those users who don’t want to deal with contracts (a steadily increasing number).

The ZTE Axon sports two rear cameras with dual LED flash, one 13-megapixel and the other 2-megapixel. There’s also an 8-megapixel camera up front. Clearly it’s equipped to take some pretty decent shots from both sides. The device features a 5.5-inch display with a resolution of 2560×1440 pixels and is backed by a 3,000mAh battery with Qualcomm’s QuickCharge technology support. High-end JBL E13 in-ear headphones are included in-box so you can enjoy high-quality audio just about anywhere.

Overall ZTE seems to have brought out the big guns here with this device, and it comes unlocked with support for both T-Mobile and AT&T bands so using it with either carrier is possible.

ZTE’s Axon Phone will launch in the United States on July 27, and while there’s no word yet on how much the device will cost, but the terms and conditions for ZTE’s “You Wish” contest pegs the Axon Phone’s worth at $450.
