HEISMAN PROFILE: Steady, calm Watson leads No. 1 Clemson
But McCaffrey is neither one of those things.

“It’s still such a surreal moment for me”, he said.
Leonard Fournette and Derrick Henry have been regarded as the top two running backs in college football. “It’s not a conference record”. “It makes sense. Now we’re getting to that point where he’s just about a full year and that’s what you hear coming back from those ACLs, a full year those guys get back to their speed”. He’ll have at least one more shot at the Heisman, and whether he wins it or not, it’ll say nothing about his pro potential. Henry has broken countless records in 2015 including the SEC record for most rushing yards in a season and the SEC record for most rushing touchdowns in a season. He is truly the most valuable player for Stanford and can change the game when ever he touches the ball. McCaffrey’s team-high 41 catches went for 540 yards, an average of 13.2 yards per catch. On kick returns – the easiest portion of the all-purpose yardage stat – McCaffrey had 600 more yards than Sanders.
Numbers alone fail to do McCaffrey justice.
I have personally watched many of his games on TV this year and one in person and have simply been astounded watching Henry gash each SEC defense he comes up against week after week. “I’m on the sidelines listening to coach (Duane) Akina with one eye and with the other eye I’m like, ‘What is this dude Christian doing?’ He’s a spectacular treat”.
Henry will be joined by quarterback Deshaun Watson (Clemson) and running back Christian McCaffrey (Stanford) in New York City on Saturday as finalists. But it is a good idea for teams to take a look and maybe see what they have to work with.
His father Ed McCaffrey, a former wide receiver at Stanford and in the National Football League, will be in attendance. His mother, Lisa, played soccer at Stanford and is the daughter of Olympic silver medal-winning sprinter David Sime.
Taking a page out of Terrell Owens’ handbook, the young McCaffrey pulled a sharpie from his sock, signed the football and threw it into the stands.
While McCaffrey’s teammates saw that talent in him as soon as he arrived as a freshman last summer for his first practices, opponents and those outside the program had to wait.
Later that night, McCaffrey had 461 all-purpose yards with touchdowns running, receiving and passing as Stanford beat Southern California in the Pac-12 title game, and Watson had 420 total yards and accounted for five touchdowns in Clemson’s Atlantic Coast Conference championship game win against North Carolina.

McCaffery did have more 100-yard games than Henry, notching 10, and strung together more with nine straight during the final stretch of the season.
