The Prime Minister today chaired a meeting of leaders of all three coalition parties and it was made a decision to implement the second phase of the agreement.
According to the decision taken during the meeting, incumbent Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik will to be replaced by Sardar Sanaullah Zehri in accordance with the Murree Accord.
However, leaders from the NP and PkMAP have managed to impress the PML-N central leadership with their performance, especially in maintaining law and order in the troubled province, sources close to the Prime Minister House have told The Express Tribune. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had been reluctant to nominate Zehri as the new chief minister. “The Federal Government will continue to extend maximum support for the development of Balochistan province”, Sharif said.
After the consultative huddle, PM Nawaz held a detailed meeting with States and Frontier Regions Minister Lt Gen (retd) Abdul Qadir Baloch and Zehri.

The PkMAP was given the post of provincial governor. Under the Murree Accord, December 4 this year was supposed to be the last day of Dr Malik Baloch as chief minister, following which a PML-N nominee was to take over for the next two and a half years. According to officials, a consensus has been evolved: among the signatories: PkMAP will retain its governorship, while the NP will get the same number of ministries and advisers as the PML-N had.
