Cheryshev scored the first goal of Real Madrid’s 3-1 victory over Cadiz in Ramon de Carranza Stadium, but he was taken out of the game early in the second half when the visitors learned he had been banned for one match.

Real were kicked out of the cup after Denis Cheryshev played when he supposed to suspended in the second round first leg against Cadiz last week.

In a similar situation last season, Osasuna were also thrown out of the competition.

Cheryshev picked up the ban while on loan at Villarreal last season.

A federation committee dismissed Madrid’s appeal on Thursday, and the club immediately said it would take the case to Spain’s Administrative Court for Sport.

Both Madrid and Cheryshev complained they had not been made aware of the sanction and were therefore innocent of any transgression, with the club having confirmed they will appeal the RFEF’s decision.

The RFEF subsequently expelled Madrid from the tournament after an official complaint from Cadiz and with Madrid’s appeal rejected, hopes of featuring in the Copa look set to rest on TAD’s judgement.

Club President, Florentino Perez even held a press conference to assure that “nobody” at Real Madrid had committed any error and that the club would appeal the decision.
