Swansea eye swoop for Man United legend as Garry Monk’s successor

If he could lure Welsh icon Giggs to Swansea, it would be his most high profile appointment yet, with Giggs remaining silent in recent weeks as the tide of popular opinion has turned against Van Gaal among United fans.

Giggs, who is now assistant manager to Louis van Gaal at Manchester United, is reportedly someone Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins wants to hold talks with over the vacant managerial position.

Giggs took charge of United on a caretaker basis for four games after David Moyes was sacked in 2014.

Cardiff-born Giggs is a Welsh legend, having earned 64 caps and scored 12 goals for his country, so would undoubtedly be welcomed by the Liberty Stadium faithful.

It would be rather jarring to see Ryan Giggs in the away dugout of Old Trafford but, hey, stranger things have happened.

Welshman Giggs is now assistant to Louis van Gaal at Old Trafford, but the 13-time Premier League victor boasts the kind of playing career that can open doors into management in England’s top division. In the long run such a move might be an astute one on the part of Giggs, allowing him to gain valuable experience of managing a Premier League club before one day taking over at United.

Ghana are on the verge of losing Avram Grant as coach of the Black Stars as he is the favourite to take over as the manager of struggling English Premier League side Swansea City, Ghana’s leading football news outfit GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.

Swansea travel to Manchester City this weekend and are unlikely to have appointed a new manager by then.

Jenkins is understood to have a preferred target in mind, who could be another manager to be recruited from overseas and Ghana’s coach is understood to be the right man for the club.
