Bartelt was taken into custody about 2:46 p.m. Thursday, more than an hour after the initial call of a gunman on campus came in, according to police.

Around 4:30, ASU lifted its lockdown everywhere on campus except the student union’s eastern side, but the campus will remain closed for the day.

The chief said that, when he arrived, Bartelt was sitting in the truck with his foot out the window and the shotgun visible, yelling something inaudible.

The campus in Jonesboro has gone into lockdown but there are no reports of injuries or shots being fired. “Officers in process of securing vehicle now”, the Jonesboro Police Department said on its Twitter feed.

Authorities went to Brad Bartelt’s home on Wednesday after being alerted regarding a post on the suspect’s Facebook page complaining about John Goree, a judge for the Office of Disability Adjudication and Review in Little Rock.

Also in the vehicle were a gasoline can and a large propane tank, he said.

Police surrounded the suspect, but have not yet apprehended the individual, the university tweeted. No shots were fired and no one was hurt.

A school spokesman said Bartelt drove his truck onto campus around 1:35 p.m. and crashed it into a barrier.

Bartelt reportedly threatened to harm himself and did not threaten to harm students or police officers.

At that point, Miller ran with several women to the library as police and SWAT team officers began descending on the campus, he said.
