Wolfsburg vs Manchester United: Morgan Schneiderlin confident of Red Devils

Louis van Gaal defended his teams lack of goals at his pre match press conference ahead of the game versus Wolfsburg in the Champions League on Tuesday, and insists the goals will start coming for his side.

United could be sent crashing out of the Champions League if they fail to win in Germany and Dutch champions PSV Eindhoven are victorious at home against CSKA Moscow.

United have come under heavy criticism as they continue to struggle for goals, but Schurrle knows that his side can not underestimate a Red Devils side that possesses world class players.

“It is very important for the club to continue in the Champions League”, said Van Gaal. That’s a normal issue but you can’t score every chance and when you see how many players get chances in our team, it’s not a fixed person. It’s not only hard because it’s an away game; the make up of the group is also very hard for them.

“You never know for sure, but I have the experience as a manager to know the goals will come”, Van Gaal said, as quoted by the Manchester Evening News.

“It’s a matter of time and I hope we can prove that tomorrow”.

United failed to score once again despite 21 attempts against West Ham on Saturday, with only one attempt forcing Adrian into a save.

“I didn’t expect that either”.

United go into the game in Germany needing a win to guarantee a place in the knockout stages.

“Until now we haven’t seen the best of Schweinsteiger”. But he can point to success in PSV’s two previous home matches in Group B over Manchester United and VfL Wolfsburg.

Wolfsburg coach Dieter Hecking is not fazed by the prospect of facing a club so rich with history and cash: “Thank God, money is not everything in sport”, he said. “Because of that now we are three points behind Leicester City because we don’t score one goal today and that is the difference”.

“So, if we do our job well in the group, then I think we can achieve a lot”.

United could do with some of those goals arriving on Tuesday with only a win at the Bundesliga side enough to ensure their passage to the last 16 of the Champions League. We created many chances and you can only do that when you are attacking; we attacked much more than our opponents, who were defending in their square of 40 metres.

“When I have to reconsider our season I will say our matches against Arsenal and Crystal Palace were the matches when we were not the better team”.
