Indian Oil Corporation official arrested for alleged links with ISIS

Alok Tripathi, Additional DGP (ATS and SOG) said, “Sirazudin, hailing from Gulbarga in Karnataka, … was arrested under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act for his alleged involvement in (activities of) global terrorist organisation ISIS, supplying official inputs and recruiting organisation members in the country”. He is now being questioned in Rajasthan the state where he was arrested and the Anti Terrorist Squad feels that more arrests are likely in other parts of the country.

He was allegedly running a Facebook page titled “Dairy of a Mujahidhin” through which the accused was into finding the youth who could potentially work for the ISIS.

A 30-year-old Mohammed Sirazudin, was working as a Marketing Manager for state-owned Indian Oil Corporation in Jaipur and was allegedly urging the Muslim youth through social networking sites to join the Islamic State, sources said.

They claim to be having “solid information” on Sirajuddin’s activities, and confirmed them by tracking online activity, reports The Indian Express.

Sirazudin’s WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram accounts are being checked. The police also seized a number of issues of Dabik, the terror group’s magazine, in addition to incriminating pictures and videos from his house.

Tripathi said the ATS after detailed investigation has found that Sirazuddin with the help of internet was propagating and spreading ideology of IS and was influencing or motivating others to become its members.
