Will decide outcome of Indo-Pak series: BCCI

“All this talk about Indo-Pak cricket series being essential for world cricket and for both countries doesn’t make sense to me”.

If Indian government permitted then the series is likely to happen from December 24 to January 5.

As per a tweet by Saj Sadiq, Pakistan cricket journalist, the PCB chairman said, “We hoped the situation would improve but we’ve now run out of time”.

Former Pakistan batsman Mohammad Yousuf can not understand the fuss around the proposed cricket series against India as he feels that apart from filling up Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) coffers, it would hardly make a difference to either of the two countries or to the world.

“Having successfully finalised the sale of commercial rights for franchises, broadcast, and title sponsorship, PSL is now entering the phase that many fans have always been waiting for”, said a PCB release. The PCB had asked Clarke to get a clear answer from Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) over series and let them know about its final decision.

Shahryar Khan said that Indian authorities also need permission from their government due to which they are delaying the series. “The Indian government is lingering on to the issue which is not the way to treat things”, he said.

According to a report in The Indian Express, Thakur said, “We can not play cricket with Pakistan when people are dying on the border”.

It may be mentioned that the PCB as well as the cricketing circles in Pakistan had been pinning hopes on the Swaraj meeting with top Pakistan officials for a good news to emerge on to the cricket series.

India suspended cricketing ties with its neighbour in the wake of 2008 terrorist attacks on Mumbai, which claimed 166 lives, and was blamed by Delhi on Pakistani militants. “Nothing has been communicated to us officially”.

“It will be important that the PCB sits down with the players and explains to them that Amir has served his punishment and that he deserves another chance”. And till the government does not give its nod, BCCI will not take any step.

“After that the series will be off”, he said.

“In any case there is a paucity of time as far as holding the series is concerned, these concerns have been addressed by the PCB as well”.
