Though she shot 12 over par over the first two rounds and didn’t make the cut at the Dubai Ladies Masters, her presence on the course was stunning nonetheless.
Feng, who won the Buick Championship in China earlier this year, and then finished third in the big-money Evian Championship in France, has an insurmountable lead on top of the Order of Merit standings.
“I am so glad to have it out of the way”, she said. “I can’t wait to get out there on the golf course this week because I really love this golf course and it’s just good fun”, the 19-year-old said. “I think I’m going to go back home and kind of re-evaluate everything and see if golf is still in my future or not”. Yes, I am pretty happy with how it went for my first round and considering how nervous I was.
Overnight joint-leader Liz Young finds herself seven off the pace despite birdieing her final two holes, with a triple-bogey seven at the fifth and a double-bogey at the eighth the lows in a three-over 75.
“The start of every tournament, my goal is to win it. I know I’ve got to play good golf, and especially this tournament, there are a lot of good golfers playing here and higher ranked than me, but I feel that I can win”. The former San Diego State golfer has endured criticism that the only reason she was invited to play in the event was because of her appearance and social-media popularity.
“I never really sought this invite out – it just came to me”.
“I’m very fortunate that I have all these followers and that they like watching me and seeing what I do”. “It was a great learning experience for me, I’m going to take a lot from it. I think I’m upset because it’s just been so much stress on me and a lot of pressure”.

“This is my first tournament and from here I’ll play the first stage of [LPGA] qualifying school when it comes up again. Probably take a break from social media just to kind of, like I said, step away and kind of re-evaluate everything”.
